MIX MONDAYS 12.19.11: Twank

Twank pressing buttons
It’s that time of year again. The holidays are upon us, and if you’re not already celebrating, this weekend will soon bring that festive cheer that we all look forward to year round. In the midst of giving, feasting, toasting, and reveling, we here at Dubco hope that you manage to find time to unleash some sauce with a little EDM show going in cities across the country. This year’s major New Years headliners have not failed to excite one bit, with impending appearances by Rusko, Avicii, Laidback Luke, Lotus, and Nero, among others. In preparation for these shenanigans and welcoming the yuletide cheer, Dubco’s very own Twank has graced us with our most recent submission for Mix Mondays, just in time for the start of the holiday season.
WARNING: The following mix may cause whiplash, broken bones, pulled muscles, torn ligaments, sauce spillage, and most likely all of the above.
Given that Twank is typically a hardcore dubsteppa at heart, it comes with a fair amount of surprise that this mix plunges through a plethora of genre pools, streaming seamlessly from electro, to nĂ¼disco, to dubstep, to moombahton, and back again without losing momentum or sense of progression. Layered rock guitar riffs peppered with lofty ethereal interlude sequences adorn melodic trajectories lined with classic grimy beats, and unequivocally catchy vocal clips to create a melee of sounds working both in opposition and in conjunction to form a uniform, organic musical entity. This is pretty much as good as it gets folks, so pour it or burn it, and prepare for Welcome to Dubco.
Damn. Those 45 minutes have me feeling more woozy than a liter of egg nog on christmas morning. This monster medley of monumental tunes is positively detrimental to my ear drums, in the best possible way.
Hopefully this mix holds you over through the holidays. Until next week, dance on.
~ Jules
