Funk Me #3: (Le Youth | Moon Boots | Treasure Fingers | RAC) Free DLs!
After what has felt like weeks of rain here in Boston, the sun is out and seems like it’s here to stay. Which means one thing for me; more glistening disco tracks in my library. And that means the third installment (Vol. 1, Vol. 2) of Funk Me for you folks. I’ve decided to use Funk Me as way of providing you with tons of awesome free grooviness, but also highlighting specific artists who I feel are doing something special. This week those artists are Le Youth and Moon Boots.
Le Youth creates an infectious vibe of stuttering vocals and tropical disco, on “Dance With Me.”
“The Night” starts off with that signature French-filter sweep but evolves into a retro, roller-rink-worthy, Soul Train era tune.
Both artists of the week meet in a case of cosmic fate on “Off My Mind (Le Youth Remix)” a blistering track highlighted by Le Youth’s stelar keyboard skills and a pulsing 80s style backdrop courtesy of Moon Boots.
Moon Boots – Off My Mind (Le Youth Remix)
“Bills to Pay” combines deep and balearic house styles with Gospel vocals.
“Got Somebody” features Moon Boots signature textured background layered with stuttered, catchy vocal lines.
Nu-Disco megastar Treasure Fingers‘ remix of Ladyhawke is a disco-house track with enough low end to dominate any club system.
Ladyhawke – Black White & Blue (Treasure Fingers Remix)
Maybe it’s corny, and sounds like it was pulled from a John Hughes film, but Chela’s vocals sit perfectly atop the luscious synth layers by Goldroom to create one of my favorite tracks of the year.
Goldroom – Fifteen (ft. Chela)
Finishing off the installment of Funk Me are two Indie Dance tracks by RAC. Known for years for remixes, “Hollywood (featuring Penguin Prison)” is RAC’s first original, and it does not disappoint.
